Tucked away in Tanglewood, Deville Fine Jewelry, offers a new concept in selecting fine jewelry. Trunk shows and private consultations replace normal “retail” operations. Small boutique workshops from Europe, Asia and the States are showcased rather than designer labels. The result is unique artistry at reasonable prices. For those who like to browse, DFJ is open on Wednesdays from 12-5pm; and otherwise by appointment. Check out the jewels on-line, as well. Look also on-line for special holiday shopping hours.

Stop and Smell the Roses!

BLOOM, the 2010 Annual Fundraising Dinner for The Women’s Home
will be Friday, November 12, chaired by Blakely Bering, and Alyson and Ken Eberle.
The InterContinental Hotel ballroom will be transformed into a whimsical garden, while 5-time Grammy and Oscar winning recording artist Christopher Cross performs. After dinner, you can dance to Dysfunkshun Junkshun. BLOOM will honor the special individuals and families that have made the opening of Jane Cizik Garden Place possible. The distinguished honorees have served The Women’s Home in many different capacities, but their leadership in shaping the growth of the new affordable apartments has raised the bar of excellence in the standard of service The Home provides to the Houston community. The evening will be emceed by FOX 26 anchors Natalie Bomke and Chris Stipes. Individual tickets for BLOOM are $350. Tables of 10 range from $5,000 to $25,000. For tickets and more information, contact Marcia Tapp at 713.328.1975 or mtapp@thewomenshome.org

Sometimes, Target gets the job done just as well as department store and boutique designers. A case in point is the the Mossimo skinny pant. The pants are smooth from waist to toe, and have a stitched line in front and back to add to the vertical feel. The substantial fabric creates a pant (rather than hosiery) look. This means the caboose stays in check, making it possible to wear shorter sweaters and shirts. Even so, the fabric is definitely thin enough to wear under a boot. A real steal at $24.99!!

Available in-store and on-line.
