Cai Guo-Qiang, the internationally renowned artist. often uses explosives on a grand scale when creating his signature masterpieces. Mr. Guo-Qiang will be in Houston to create Odyssey, a work commissioned by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, for the walls of the museum’s new Arts of China Gallery that will open in October.
Volunteers are needed to aid in the process of stenciling, cutting and drawing, and assisting with a controlled explosion on the final day of work. The volunteers will assist during designated sessions October 4-6 at a 25,000 square foot warehouse near Reliant Stadium.

The 59th Consular Ball is the official celebration gala of Houston’s Consular Corps. The formal and diplomatic ball hosted by Houston’s Mayor, and organized by The Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce, will be attended by political and business leaders including the city’s 91 country consular corps.
