Kristina Kallop, Lydia Lavin, Micheline Newall and Patty Dominguez

Latin Women’s Initiative (LWI) held their 8th annual Fashion Show and Luncheon on Friday May 7 at the InterContinental Hotel. This year’s chairmen, Micheline Newall and Cristina Kallop were happy to welcome the sell out crowd of 700 well heeled women gathered to support the mission of LWI, which support women and families in need in our community, particularly in the areas of health and education. LWI President Mary Tere Perusquia announced the recipients of this years funds and volunteer hours would benefit Child Advocates, Crisis Intervention of Houston, El Centro de Corazon, Cristo Rey Jesuit, Neighborhood Centers and, University of Houston Center for Mexican American Studies.

Lydia Lavin’s fashions from Mexico City were one of a kind, and the show choreographed by Lenny Matuszewski was fabulous. The day celebrated the country of Peru. The vendor market with items from many countries in Latin America kept the ladies busy both before and after the luncheon.
