Time to Spice Things Up in the Kitchen

Well Done had their first Wednesday of every month “This is How We Roll-Sushi!” class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7. This class taught attendees how to make four sushi rolls in a fun, relaxed environment.

The instructor, Lindsay, kept the class lively and entertaining, and she did an excellent job of instructing attendees of how easy it is to make sushi at home. The menu featured California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, Philadelphia rolls and a surf & turf roll.

The sushi rice was already cooked and all of the ingredients were already prepped, which allowed for attendees to focus on learning how to actually assemble and roll the sushi. After each roll was assembled and rolled in the bamboo sushi rolling mat, the attendees then learned how to slice the sushi before enjoying it.

Well Done offers a large variety of classes in addition to this sushi class. It is a great place for a fun date night, to celebrate an occasion or just to have a great night with friends! A helpful hint is that Well Done offers beer and wine for purchase, but it is also BYOB. To see their upcoming classes, check out their website at https://www.welldonecc.com/public-classes.

Houston Philanthropy

The 2017 Shop with Heart Card Kick-Off Party took place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 27 at Kuhl-Linscomb, and it was quite a party! A number of sponsors provided refreshing drinks and tasty eats for the guests to nosh on while they browsed the store. Some of the savory options included dishes from Peli Peli, Russo’s and Ouisie’s Table.
Russo’s provided both pasta and pizza, so no one left this event hungry. After enjoying some yummy appetizers, there were plenty of options for those with a sweet tooth. Hannah Joy’s Cakes provided samples of both their lemon and vanilla cake along with stunning displays of hand-painted cakes. Ooh La La provided a variety of miniature cupcakes including a delightful cookies and cream flavorful and oatmeal raisin cookies. Petite Sweets offered miniature red velvet and chocolate cupcakes that were beautifully decorated with edible glitter. A selection of beverages were offered at the event to help wash down all of the treats. Deep Eddy Vodka, Topo Chico and wine were all available for guests to sip on. This Kick-Off party was a great way to celebrate the start of the 10-day Shop with Heart Card Fundraiser, which benefits the American Heart Association. The 2017 Shop with Heart Card dates were April 28 to May 7.
