SERVICE IN THE FIELD OF FASHION
Neiman Marcus announces that fashion designer Carolina Herrera will receive the Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion on September 16, 2016 at the Crystal Charity Ten Best Dressed Fashion Show and Luncheon, hosted by Neiman Marcus, at their flagship store in downtown Dallas. Neiman Marcus announces the launch of an exclusive KENDALL + KYLIE collection, available for pre-sale now at www.NeimanMarcus.com/KendallandKylie and in stores on April 7. The collection is included in the retailer’s #OnlyatNM program. The collection is an elevated extension of the KENDALL + KYLIE Spring collection, which Neiman Marcus also carries. Inspired by favorite vintage pieces and their current closets, the sisters created the nine pieces in an effort to bring shoppers one step closer to their aesthetic, taste profile, and personal style. With fine details and meticulous tailoring, creating pieces like a black silk jumpsuit and leather short was an opportunity for them to create with finer fabrics, trims, and detailing.

The room was light and bright like with floral arrangements provided by H-E-B and chatter filling the packed room. Close to $175,000 was raised. The Annual Butterfly Luncheon Chairmen Marsha and Bill Hyslop welcomed supporters. Melanie Lawson of ABC Channel 13, emceed the day. The featured speaker was, Mitch Albom, who is a best selling author, screenwriter, playwright and journalist to name a few of his talents. He also incorporated playing the keyboard into his remarks as he spoke of traveling many roads, meeting many people and how everyone we touch impacts lives. He read excerpts from his new book The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto and tied this back to the people at hospice touching lives in moments when families need it most, the compassion and caring at end of life. He also remembered his days spent with Morrie on which his book Tuesdays with Morrie was based as his friend died from ALS.

Spring Branch Education Foundation Honors Donors
Ruby Schaper and Lisa Schwartz
“You are difference makers,” Lisa Schwartz, chair of Spring Branch Education Foundation’s board of directors, told patrons at its inaugural donor appreciation event in early March. “For the first time in the Foundation’s 23-year history, this year we gave the district $1 million for scholarships and grants to our teachers and students. That gift would not have been possible without each and every person and corporation here tonight.” More than 60 people gathered at the Houstonian Hotel’s Manor House to hear how their donations support education-enhancing programs throughout Spring Branch ISD. Guests enjoyed dinner with wines paired by sommelier Ginny Endecott.
