BAYOU PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION KICKED OFF 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Houstonians Help Bayou Preservation Association
and Houstorian Commemorate Laura Day

Kathy Lord with guest

Bayou Preservation Association kicked off its 50th Anniversary with Houstorian to celebrate Laura Day, which Houstorian first celebrated two years ago. Over 50 people mixed and mingled in the historic Cotton Exchange Building to commemorate the day, in 1837, when the packet steamer Laura made history and went all the way up Buffalo Bayou to Allen’s Landing, establishing Houston as a navigable port.

Laura Rice and Sarah Gruber

Public Services Wine & Whisky provided cocktails while Oxheart and Revival Market provided light bites. Bayou Preservation Association was thrilled that so many people helped kick off their 50th Anniversary, and looks forward to continuing to celebrate throughout the year with a Student Poetry Contest, the 50th Anniversary Luncheon, the 50th Anniversary Gala Kick Off Party, the 50th Anniversary Gala and the Annual Symposium.
