TOOTSIES KICKS OFF NATIONAL
OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Featuring Manoosh and Agate Ranch + Marfa
benefiting Susan Poorman Blackie Ovarian Cancer Foundation

Host Megan Silianoff and Ovarian Cancer Survivor

In honor of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Tootsies along with Megan Silianoff hosted a cocktail party celebrating the launch of the “Susan Scarf”, designed by Manoosh in collaboration with SPB. Anna Wilson of Manoosh presented her Fall 2015 collection and Kathy Bracewell of Agate Ranch + Marfa created a “build your own” agate jewelry station where shoppers added teal pieces to create one-of-a-kind necklaces. Host Megan Silianoff signed copies of her book, 99 Problems but a Baby Ain't One, and famed local fashion illustrator, Rongrong DeVoe, live sketched guests with their scarves. More than 130 Houstonians mingled and shopped for a cause while enjoying wine and light bites by B&B Butchers & Restaurant.

The beautiful teal scarf (the national ovarian cancer color) features a painting by Houston-based abstract artist, Marilyn Biles, and was created in honor of SPB’s namesake and founder who passed away in July 2014. After Susan lost her hair during chemotherapy, she wore colorful, artfully designed scarves that became a source of beauty and strength through the rigors of cancer treatment. A percentage of the evening’s sales and all proceeds from the sale of the Susan Scarf support ovarian cancer awareness and research and benefit the Susan Poorman Blackie Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
