Girls Night Out Cooking Class

Calling all ladies looking for a new twist on the classic girls’ night out, check out Sur La Table for their cooking classes! Sur La Table offers a number of fun cooking classes teaching a variety of skills, and they even offer one specifically designed for girls’ night out, so grab your girlfriends and head on over to start cooking some tasty food. To add even more pizzazz to the night, cooking class participants are encouraged to bring wine to enjoy while learning how to cook gourmet recipes. If you do happen to forget the wine, do not fear because you can run across the street to The Tasting Room and purchase a bottle there with a 10% discount while wearing your apron showing that you are participating in one of the Sur La Table cooking classes.

The recent girls’ night out cooking class that took place at the CityCentre location on Thursday, December 11 included a delicious menu. The menu consisted of prosciutto wrapped shrimp, potato pancakes with salmon and capers, sweet potato and ginger soup and chicken skewers with a homemade pesto sauce. Everything tasted incredible, and the class attendees had a ton of fun whipping up the recipes. One of the best parts of these cooking classes is the fact that you get to cook without having to do the cleaning unlike at home. Next time you are in charge of planning girls’ night, be sure to check out the Sur La Table website to see what courses they are offering.

From 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, December 13, CityCentre hosted a holiday market. One of the streets was closed off so that vendors could set up tents along the street filled with goods including artwork and jewelry. The dessert boutique Sweet had a tent where children could decorate their own gingerbread cookies. A unique vendor at this market was Damsel in Distress, which sells safety devices targeted at women because they offer them in feminine colors and with bling on these items including stun guns and pepper spray. This market was a great way for people to do some holiday shopping for unique and individual gifts for friends and loved ones.

Zoo Lights

Zoo Lights is a great way to get into the holiday spirit with over 2 million lights decorating the Houston Zoo. There are awesome light displays decorating the trees along with zoo creatures created out of colorful lights. This experience is an interesting way to view the zoo after dark, even though most of the animals are asleep for the night. Speakers play holiday tunes as guests walk around admiring the displays along with some live music performed at 7 and 8 pm by different groups on various nights. To add to this holiday experience, there are some holiday treats for sale including hot chocolate that you can add a shot of Bailey’s to, if you are looking for something extra to warm you up, and you are over 21. There are also gingerbread men that you can decorate yourself along with S’mores kits, which you can roast over an open fire. Zoo Lights is a wonderful holiday adventure that is great fun for people of all ages!
