All Hail Cesar

Native Houstonian and fashion designer, Cesar Galindo has launched his solo lines,
CZAR by Cesar Galindo & CESAR GALINDO COLLECTION for Spring 2013 at NYC’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and HHH was there. For the past three years he collaborated with Gwen Stefani and showed that collection at last year’s Fashion Houston. His debut line is elegant, ethereal, and feminine. It has a Gatsby, 1920’s feel, with loose draping and illusion fabrics; sheer organzas, chiffons, and silks. He incorporated headpieces, veils, and accessories he designed of lace and net. His color palette was groups of whites, metallics-bronzes, gold, copper, gunmetal, silver, and fuschias. There were exposed fibers and the colors went from light to dark in the ombre style. Cesar plans to expand with a lifestyle brand to meet the wants and needs of today’s woman. HIs designs are available at Coquette and online.

Friends For Life

Do you run, walk, stroll, meander or just enjoy spending time outdoors at Memorial Park? Have you been considering adopting a new pet? Need a new running partner? Friends For Life is making it a whole lot easier to meet your lifetime match with the Running 4 Home program. The Friends For Life’s Mobile Adoption Van (MAV) provides an air-conditioned, clean and quiet environment transporting up to 33 adoptable animals at a time. Outside windows offer viewing under an awning while inside, adopters get a hands-on visit. With the only city permit to do so at Memorial Park, the MAV is parked near the running trail the second Saturday of each month. By trading an item such as their car keys or driver’s license, runners can “borrow” a dog to accompany them on the trail.

This process helps potential adopters get to know the animal, seeing if they are a good fit. Running 4 Home isn’t just for marathon runners-some Friends For Life dogs prefer just a walk in the park. For cat lovers, plenty of felines hang out in the MAV where runners can come on board and meet them. Knowledgeable volunteers are on-site at Running 4 Home to answer question and get adoption paperwork started.“Running 4 Home combines the wants and needs of both dogs and potential adopters to make the perfect match,” says Salise Shuttlesworth, Executive Director of Friends For Life. “Runners want an exercise companion and these dogs need a home. Everyone wins. With the only city permit to bring animals to Memorial Park, Running 4 Home is a truly unique Houston event.”
