The Villager

Located along Echo Lane and the Katy Freeway lies a great gift boutique called The Villager. It has become a favorite among Memorial residents over the years thanks to the great little treasures it has to offer. This boutique has a wide variety of items ranging from adorable wine glasses to a huge selection of invitation paper. No matter what the occasion, the Villager will have some type of invitation for whatever fabulous soiree you are hosting whether it is a child’s birthday part or an engagement shower. They also have a wonderfully large selection of beautiful Vera Bradley items, which make great gifts for ladies of all ages. Along with Vera Bradley, The Villager also carries Jon Hart and Lilly Pulitzer items. If you know a young lady in a sorority, then you definitely should stop by and check out the incredible selection of sorority items ranging from hand-painted crosses to notepads. Now if you are looking for a gift for a Father’s Day, then you can still come by The Villager and check out some of the great Texas themed items they offer. In the summer, The Villager also offers some items that are perfect for a camp care package. The Villager is definitely a boutique worth taking a browse around during their hours from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday thru Saturday.

The luxurious David Yurman boutique in the Houston, Galleria was the site of an evening of shopping and philanthropy. David Yurman, along with Houston Texan’s quarterback Matt Schaub and his wife Laurie, hosted this exclusive in-store event for the friends and supporters of Texas Children’s Hospital. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails while viewing the latest jewelry, timepiece, eyewear and fragrance collections. Laurie and Matt began supporting Texas Children’s Hospital upon their arrival to Houston a few years ago and continue to be staunch supporters of the institution. They are proud to partner with David Yurman, who donated a portion of the evening’s proceeds to assist with the furtherance of the hospital’s mission. In addition to the Schaub’s, other notables in attendance included Yurman Store Manager, Lauren Granello, Area Manager, Chris Kimbrough, Olympians, Stephen, Diana and Mark Lopez, Allie and John Mitchner, Catherine Anspon, Toni Dupree, Forrest and Paige Green, Dr. William Phillips and Neekie and Amir Kashani.

American Heart Association Unveils 2012 Art Hearts
at Linn Energy's Red White Dark Chocolate Event

American Heart Association supporters and LINN Energy employees gathered in Hotel Zaza’s Room with A View, for the fourth annual Red Wine Dark Chocolate event held to unveil the organization’s 2012 Art Hearts. The evening was a celebration of LINN Energy’s support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign. Charlene Ripley, LINN Energy’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel, lead the 2012 Go Red campaign over the past year, raising awareness and funds for women’s heart health. The evening also celebrated the American Heart Association’s exclusive Circle of Red group through the unveiling of Art Hearts. Local artists such as Taft McWhorter, Kermit Eisenhut and Shelley Shanks Lockwood donated their time and talents to create beautiful and unique hearts for the Circle of Red members. Each Circle of Red member worked directly with her artist to create a unique and personal Art Heart, one that will be displayed at a location of their choosing. Guests enjoyed heart-healthy red wine and dark chocolate in addition to other fabulous and figure friendly appetizers like tuna tartar on wontons and roasted red pepper hummus with feta olives

Tea Time

Starting Tuesday, June 12, MFAH members and visitors may enjoy the traditions of English and Japanese tea service alongside extraordinary art collections, as part of the new summer series "Tuesday Tea + Tour." On eight consecutive Tuesdays—June 12 to July 31, at 3 p.m.—guests are invited to experience the traditions of tea in two themed offerings, one corresponding to the exhibition Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough: The Treasures of Kenwood House, London and the other relating to the exhibition Unrivalled Splendor: The Kimiko and John Powers Collection of Japanese Art. Each seating for tea service requires a ticket and is accompanied by an assortment of beverages as well as savory and sweet treats and a 20-minute, docent-led highlights tour of the featured exhibition, starting every half hour from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tea service is led by the only Certified Tea Master in Texas: Thia McKann from Houston´s The Path of Tea, exclusive tea partner for these events. The exquisite settings for "Tuesday Tea + Tour" at the MFAH are provided by Aztec Events & Tents along with floral partner Jonathan Andrew Sage. David Peck Personal Appearance and Trunk Show at Tootsies

Eco-friendly women’s-wear clothing line with a conscience is full of bright prints and sleek metallic fabrics. The clothing line is made from a combination of certified organic and natural materials that cause minimal effects to the environment. Peck is donating 10 percent from his spring/ summer 2012 collection to the Gulf Restoration Networks, which works to rehabilitate the Gulf of Mexico and its ecosystems after the recent oil spill.
