bevello

New to town from North Carolina and Virginia is the bevello boutique. Across the street from the River Oaks theatre on West Gray, this trendy store carries fashion musts of clothing, shoes, and accessories. The name bevello is derived from Italian "bella", the Italian word for beautiful, mixed with a little love. Their logo is bve, thoughtfully designed to be read as both an abbreviation for bevello, and love.

Tree Swing

Bring Nature inside with this swing chair. It’s a functional sculpture crafted of myrtle by artist Adam Birch, whose apprenticeship as a tree climber led to his own tree surgery company and a constant supply of raw material. Each piece Birch creates is a hand-hewn original informed by the natural shape of the tree from which it came. You can find it at Anthropologie.

More than 700 attendees showed up in their finest to support the American Heart Association’s 2012 “HeART-Beat” Ball. John and Bobbie Nau, this year’s event chairs, served as the perfect hosts at this premier event. The evening featured many welcome surprises throughout the night, especially during the live auction which culminated in a winning bid of $69,500 for one of six 2012 Sewell Houston vehicles. And due to popular demand, halfway through the evening John Nau announced that the large canvasses which served as The Event Company’s décor would be auctioned off. This resulted in an additional $21,000. John Nau and Corporate Honoree Mark Maki of Enbridge Energy also announced that they would match each $1,000 donation, bringing the $38,000 raised to $76,000. There was much success raising funds throughout the night which resulted in more than $1.3 million raised to combat heart disease and stroke.
And the “Beat Went On” after the Ball with the Young at Heart, the young professionals’ group for the American Heart Association, as they grooved long into the night to tunes by Commercial Art and Infinite Groove.
