Texas Artist, Franco Mondini-Ruiz

San Antonio-based artist Franco Mondini-Ruiz presented his latest pop-up art sales performance at Tootsies. Entitled "Couture on Canvas," it was a boutique art gallery that catered to lovers of fashion, romance, humor and art. Franco left the legal world to pursue his passion for painting, in 1995, and he has been painting ever since. His work is impressionistic, Klimt-esque, and three dimensional. He is as colorful and fun as his art, and he painted new pieces, while charming customers. For some of the buyers, he personalized the art by painting couples to look like the buyers!

This collection, created exclusively for Tootsies, was partially inspired by the enthusiastic support of Mickey Rosmarin, whose eagle eye for the couture, was delighted by Mondini-Ruiz's quirky and fresh interpretations of feminine glamour. Mickey Rosmarin has used blow ups of Mondini-Ruiz's paintings in two seasons of Tootsies' showcase windows. Franco also has a best selling autobiography, High Pink: Tex-Mex Fairy Tales.
