The week between Christmas and New Year’s is the perfect time for a day trip to Galveston. You can walk off those holiday party calories and explore some unique boutiques. Park on 25th and and the Strand and start your shopping expedition in Nefertiti, a chic boutique with women's clothing and accessories. They are in the historic Panama Hotel which also houses Panama Home, a great home accessory and furniture store for in-town and beach houses.Walk down the Strand to Head to Footsies for trendy clothes,shoes and accessories, then cross the street to Tina’s for home decor, clothing, candles, and jewelry. It’s time for lunch and HHH suggests Mosquito Cafe for a sandwich or salad,then to their sister company, Patty Cakes bakery for a sweet treat. Across the street is Style boutique filled with the latest fashions and accessories. On your way back to H-town stop in the eclectic Garden Room on Winnie, to peruse architectural antiques and ladies clothing. You’ll have a fun relaxing day filled with the sea winds blowing.

4th Annual Friends Guild Holiday Coffee

- The Children’s Assessment Center (The CAC) Friends Guild Board hosted the 4th Annual
Holiday Coffee. Ericka Bagwell, Friends Guild Board member and generous hostess, opened
up her gorgeous home for this festive occasion to gather supporters and friends of The CAC.
Guests showed incredible generosity during the holiday season bringing toys, gift cards and donations for the children and teens served at The CAC.The morning was also filled with
many holiday shopping opportunities that benefited The CAC including beautiful Christmas ornaments designed by children served at The CAC. Dr. Carolyn Farb also joined the event signing her book, Lucas Comes to America, and donating 20% of the proceeds to The CAC.
Beautiful jewelry by Shamaine Klein Designs was available for purchase including a
special charm designed for the event with 50 % of the proceeds donated to The CAC. The
Deborah Colton Gallery displayed exquisite artwork throughout Ericka Bagwell’s home for purchase, with 15% of the proceeds benefiting The CAC. The Deborah Colton Gallery generously extended the 15% of sales of all artwork through December 31, 2011.

Elaine Stolte, Executive Director of The CAC, thanked everyone for attending and for
their support and involvement throughout the year. The CAC is thankful for supporters such
as the guests of the Holiday Coffee who help not only spread awareness, but also encourage prevention of child sexual abuse.

CAC Friends Guild President, Kim Moody, thanked everyone for coming and reminded the group of the many things to be thankful for and what can be done to help child victims of sexual abuse. She asked that all guests consider making a donation towards the Therapy and Psychological Services provided by The CAC that help these young child victims and their families through the healing process. Diane Caplan, one of the Event Chairs for the Spirit of Spring Luncheon, reminded everyone to save the date of April 4, 2012 for the 13th Annual Spirit of Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show at the InterContinental Hotel.
