Native Texan and Bellaire resident, Jill Reno is a creative jewelry designer using natural stones and materials. She studied sculpting under her famous sculptor grandfather, Jim Reno, but realized her true passion was jewelry designing. Her unique pieces (no two are alike) can be worn with both casual and dressy attire. Her pieces have attracted celebrity fans, (Eva Longoria, Rene Russo, Vanessa Hudgens to name a few) and are available at Tootsies, or her website.

Houston’s Ronals McDonald House supporters gathered at Mosaic on Hermann Park to kick off the 2011 Trafigura Home Run, a 10k run and 2k family walk lead by House pooch Mogie, slated for December 3. The party showcased colorful dog bowls decorated by children of RMC house, and guests decorated their own bowls to add to the gallery which will be on display through December 1. The bowls will line the raceway of the run and then be sold with proceeds going to RMC house.

National Philanthropy Day Luncheon

Another sold out event for the 26th National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Greater Houston Chapter at the Hilton Americas Hotel, with an estimated 1,100 were in attendance. According to luncheon chairman Christi Parker, Chief Development Officer of Genesys Works, a record amount of over $210,000 was raised and will benefit the chapter’s scholarship and educational programs.Houston AFP Chapter President Sean Hammerle thanked Christi for her leadership of the successful event along with co-chairmen of the luncheon Amelia Ribnick Kleiman and Thom Sloan. Community leaders applauded the Outstanding Philanthropy Awards presented to a host of individuals, corporations, foundations, organizations and volunteers, including Hilcorp Energy Company, Triten Corportation, KPRC, The Robert A. Welch Foundation, Beating Cancer with a Stick Lacrosse Classic, and Cristo Rey Jesuit Preparatory School of Houston for Defying Gravity Gala. HEB donated beautiful floral arrangements for centerpieces on the over 100 tables, keeping with the color theme of lavender, purple and white. Molly Crownover was cheering as her husband Jim received the award for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. Bobby Tudor, a previous award recipient with his wife Phoebe in 2009, delivered an eloquent introduction for Anne and Charles Duncan, the Maurice Hirsch Award winners, describing their impact on our community and their shining example of the spirit in giving.
