Why spend a fortune on a designer wedding gown when you may now rent a show stopper for a fraction of the expense? The likes of Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier are now available by the week thanks to the creative mind of bride Mila Arzu who sought the service she now provides during her own engagement. Milad Bridal Boutique posts an on-line gallery of dresses (including flower girl and bridesmaid varieties) and see the real thing in person at the Kirby salon. Rentals range from $100 - $700.

The boutique accepts gowns for consignment sale or you may loan your dress for rentals.

Take your favorite farmer’s market and add a touch of the Whole Foods and Central Market meat and fish counters and you’ve got Revivial Market tucked away in the Heights. Something akin to where your grandparents did their marketing, but with the added benefit of gourmet items like bread from Slow Dough, baked goods from Fluff Bake Bar, Hill Country cheese, local honey, sea salt and eggs. Don’t miss the prepared meals to grab on the run.
