The Astros hosted their annual Pink In The Park Brunch and Bazaar at MinuteMaid Park to help raise awareness and dollars for the fight against breast cancer. The 2011 Astros
players and coaches and their wives took part in the event, which was co-chaired by Astros President of Business Operations Pam Gardner and ElizabethMcLane, wife of Astros Chairman and CEO Drayton McLane, who also attended the event. The brunch was a part of the Astros
week-long Pink In The Park efforts during the current homestand to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Milo Hamilton emceed and Lisa Malosky conducted a question and answer session with Dr. Jenny Chang, an internationally acclaimed breast cancer researcher and clinician, and Director of The Methodist Cancer Center. The featured speaker was Denise Hazen, author of Treat Her Like a Princess: How to Help Your Girlfriend with Breast Cancer (and co-owner of Cheeky Vintage) Hazen, a stage three breast cancer survivor, wrote the book based on her own experience to help caregivers guide their friends through the process of breast cancer treatment.Twelve breast cancer survivors were escorted by Astros players to their ‘seat of honor’ at the Royal Table located in the center of the ballroom. The brunch and bazaar, produced in conjunction with In Any Event, Niki Smith, and francisco & co., Ellie Francisco, featured numerous local boutiques and unique fashion designers including A Little Eye Candy Jewelry, Itsy Bitsy Boutique, Silpada Designs, Talbot Cooley and Tres Chic.
