HCC Passion for Fashion Luncheon

Were you one of the lucky 470 chic guests on March 1, at Hotel ZaZa to attend the sold out Passion for Fashion luncheon? This hip and haute event benefited Houston’s fashion and interior design community, in support of Houston Community College’s award-winning fashion and interior design education programs, led by Kay King, the Division Chair of Lifestyle Arts and Design Careers for HCC. Leisa Holland-Nelson the Honorary Chairman of the luncheon along with Luncheon Chairmen Gabriela Dror and Nidhika Mehta and Co-Chairmen Rosemarie Johnson and Robin Reimer celebrated the record breaking success, with over $185,000 raised. Julia Frankel, Chairman Emeritus and founder of the luncheon, continued to lend her vision and support to the event. Two new awards were presented, one to Diane Lokey Farb who received the 2011 HCC Design Society Fashion Icon Award after a fabulous fast moving video showing her fashionable life in pictures to the delight of the audience. Momentum Audi GM Jared Lang received a Special Award for Fashion Houston 2010. Clifford Pugh interviewed world famous designers to the stars, Mark Badgley and James Mischka. Diane Lokey Farb’s collection of Badgley Mischka gowns were displayed on mannequins around the ballroom foyer, including the Badgley Mischka gown on the stage that ad been worn the previous evening by Farb to the Academy Awards. Luncheon guests were treated to informal modeling of the latest of the duo’s fabulous red-carpet designs. A reception following the luncheon had the many ladies shopping, visiting and snapping pics with the designers.
Seen in the fashion mix were: HCC Chancellor Dr. Mary Spangler. Terry Zymslo, Becca Thrash, Mickey Rosmarin, Linda Barrett, Judi Oudt, Mia Bering, Ginger Blanton, Ceron, Kelli Blanton, Franci Crane, Bob Bibb, Debbie Festari, Janet Gurwitch, Melissa Mithoff, Stephanie Cockrell, Frann Lichtenstein, Soraya McClelland and Dancie Ware.
