“Books for Bonse” Helps Bring
Literacy to Small African Village

Here’s a great gift for Valentine’s or for any other occasion. Houston native, Adam Williamson has been a man on a mission—one that has taken him to Zambia, in southern Africa, for a two-year stint in the Peace Corps. Stationed in the small village of Kabisapi, Adam has bonded with the residents, especially the children, who have an unquenchable thirst for learning. So it seemed natural that Adam’s pet project should be overseeing the building of a library and helping to fill it with books.

The multi-use library will serve as a community gathering place for meetings and provide extra classroom space for the overcrowded school, where 800 students fit into six classrooms! It will be a center where information is accessed/exchanged in a part of the world where PCs and iPhones are not the norm. And there will be books!

Give the gift of reading with “Books for Bonse” (bonse means “everyone”), an ongoing book drive spearheaded by Adam for the Kabisapi community. He believes reading opens up new worlds to people, and the younger they start, the better. For a donation as small as $5, you can make a huge difference in the lives of children and adults who crave the written word. Help stock the future Kabisapi library at www.booksforbonse.com
